School Re-organisation 2022 - update
Dear Parent / Carer
Following the consultation period about reorganisation of schools in this area, including Pontypridd High, the Council met on Thursday March 21st to discuss the information that had been presented and to listen to statements from those present. A number of staff, governors and students attended this meeting.
The Council received over 2,000 responses to this consultation. One of our major concerns was in relation to the proposal to remove our Sixth Form from September, 2022. This was also the case for the sixth forms in Hawthorn HS and Cardinal Newman. Over 90% of those who responded to the consultation agreed that this was not an acceptable proposal in its present form. However, the Council Cabinet decided today that this proposal would still go ahead as it stands. We are obviously disappointed with this decision. The proposals to locate Cilfynydd PS on our site and to amend our catchment area were also agreed by Cabinet members.
There now follows a further period of consultation on this decision.
Can I take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support during this process and we will keep you informed of how you may engage further in the weeks ahead.
