Letter from the Head of School (17th Nov)

Letter from the Head of School - Mrs Kayleigh Oliver

Prynhawn Da!

This week we have celebrated ‘Children in Need’ with activities talking place across the school. For those of you watching the television programme this evening, please keep an eye out for our school and our donation (this normally comes up at the bottom of the screen). We have also been very fortunate to host ‘BBC Bytesize’ today, working with pupils from Year 7-Year 10, I am told it has been a worthwhile experience. Thank you to all involved. This week we have taken some Year 8 boys to the Jr NBA Draft in Aberystwyth which was a great experience. Also, a big well done to the Year 11 boys who represented the school in the Welsh Schools Football League against Whitmore.

Congratulations to Julia Urbanska from Year 8 who has achieved a staggering 66 positive points this week, closely followed by Alfie Hopkins in Year 7 with 52, Lillie Davies in Year 9 has received 35 positive points, Finley Nicholas in Year 11 has received 29 and Kasmin Legge in Year 10 has received 24. Well done all, and keep up the good work.

As always, I ask staff to share some excellent work of classes or individual pupils. Mrs Stockman has asked me to mention Reno Mansfield as her pupil of the week this week. Reno has achieved an A grade in his recent Chemistry test and the improvement in his attitude to learning since starting year 10 has been excellent. Mrs Hughes has asked me to mention Lexi Fletcher for improved attendance and attitude to learning.

Next week, the School nursing service will be visiting school on Thursday 23/11/23 and Friday 24/11/23 to offer nasal flu vaccine (spray) for Year 7 through to Year 11. If pupils have not returned the completed form, please complete and return to school ASAP. If you required a form, pupils can pick one up at reception or pupil services. Sporting fixtures continue throughout next week. We have rugby and netball fixtures against Hawthorn on Wednesday at home.

Can I also take this opportunity to remind all parents & carers of the importance of school uniform. Hooded tops and tracksuit bottoms are not part of the school uniform policy, and we kindly ask you to support us in ensuring these are not worn to school. All details of the uniform policy can be found on our school website.

As always, thank you for your continued support.

Mrs Kayleigh Oliver - Head of School
