Letter from the Head of School (15th Sept)

Letter from the Head of School - Mrs Kayleigh Oliver

Good afternoon,

The theme of this week in Pontypridd High School has been kindness. All pupils have received an assembly focusing on this whilst also reinforcing our school rules of ‘Be respectful, responsible and ready.’ As a school we place a huge amount of importance on these three areas and I would like to thank parent/carers for the support on this. Next week the theme of the week will be ’identity’.

Firstly a huge congratulations to all our pupils who have worked incredibly hard over the past week, an incredible 5490 points have been awarded across the school for a variety of positive behaviours such as being helpful, excellent engagement and asking questions to extend learning. Every week I will use this platform as an opportunity to share and celebrate some of the excellent work and achievements of our pupils. This week I have been informed of the outstanding work from 10W in English with Miss Stickler, and a particular mention must go to Jordan Thomas who I am told has been excellent. Miss Bartlett has highlighted the engagement of Teigan Davies, Mrs Stockman has asked me to mention the excellent start to the school year for Lacie Horton in Year 10 and Miss Pritchard wants to celebrate the hard work of Regan Robinson. Jack Donaldson in Year 9 and Caidyn Williams in Year 7 have both achieved an outstanding 28 positive points throughout this week, closely followed by Alfie Gwynne (Year 9) with 27 positive points. Well done all, keep up the good work.

Mrs Barrett has launched this year’s production of ‘Matilda’ with auditions starting over the next few weeks, it has been fantastic to see so many pupils register their interest. This will be a joint production with Cilfynydd Primary School. You can now also access our extra-curricular timetable on the website to see all other activities on offer for pupils outside of school hours.

I am pleased to say, opportunities have become available for parents/carers to apply to part of the schools Governing Body. The school has excellent links with the Governing Body which we will be continuing throughout this year. The school Governors have been instrumental in recent years in securing the success of the school and driving school improvement and I am pleased to inform you we now have three vacancies available for parent/carer Governors. Further information on this will be sent out by Miss Nicki Pickens in due course.

Finally can I take this opportunity to remind parents/carers of the importance of logging in and monitoring our online platform ‘classcharts’. If you are having trouble with this please contact contact@pontyhigh.co.uk.

Many thanks for your continued support,

Mrs Kayleigh Oliver
