Awards Ceremony 2022

Our annual Awards Ceremony, 2022 took place on Thursday 29th September and it was wonderful to be able to hold the event in our main hall for the first time since 2019. A packed audience were able to enjoy a fantastic celebration of our students’ academic, sporting and extra-curricular achievements.

There were many awards to present including prizes for each subject, a student of the year from each year group and transition awards for our Year 7 students. We also celebrated awards for fantastic examination success in the summer at GCSE and A Level and prizes for international sport. We are thankful to our guest speaker, Alex Davies-Jones MP for Pontypridd, who spoke from her own experiences about the importance of everyone pursuing your dreams, striving to be the best that you can and this is clearly illustrated by the success she has achieved in her own career.

The Citizenship Award was won by Cody Jenkins for his excellent work with our site management team and the Endeavour Award by Cody, Kira-Lea and Mia Crockett for their spirit and determination in achieving great things whilst facing different health issues.

Florence Morgan-Wood received the Rhys Morgan Outstanding Achievement Award for her passion and desire to succeed in her academic studies given all the disruptions over the last 2 years. Her achievements at GCSE level were outstanding.

These awards were voted for by the pupils and staff of Pontypridd High and all recipients thoroughly deserve their awards.

Head Student for the year ahead, Sasha Bond spoke very well, introducing this year’s student leadership team and outlining their plans for the year ahead. Details of all the awards can be read from our Awards ceremony programme which is on the school website.

Mr Huw Cripps, Headteacher thanked everyone for their contributions to such a positive and successful event after so many challenges in the last 2 years. The evening ended with Mrs Rebecca Enos and Mr Tom Longden thanking congratulating everyone for what they had achieved and thanking each family for their commitment and support.

Well done everyone and to all those students who have done fantastically well to get nominated for awards this year, persevere and give your best through the next year and you will have every opportunity to be recognised for an award next year.
