Year 6 Discover More Project 2020

Discover More at Pontypridd High School is a home learning programme that our pupils take part in through year 7 and 8. The tasks are created by each Faculty and are aimed at developing pupils' essential skills such as: independent learning, numeracy, extended writing, reading comprehension and digital competency skills. Each term the project has a different themes which include the world, nature, space, wellbeing, under the sea and our digital world. Our pupils get the opportunity to develop cross curricular skills and engage fully in the range of themes through the year with independent research.

Additionally, our Discover More project has a 'Something for the Weekend' challenge each week where pupils can aim to achieve bronze, silver and gold awards. These are  experience based activities and experiences that pupils really enjoy engaging with. Some examples of these challenges are cooking, getting creative, visiting museums, going on a nature walk and even taking part in some gardening at home.

We would love Year 6 to have a taste of what our Discover More project has to offer them when they join Pontypridd High School, so, each half term there will be a different Discover More project for all primary schools to engage with. The projects will have a different theme and will be filled with fun and engaging Something for the Weekend Challenges. We would love them to aim for gold! This work needs to be uploaded to their primary school Teams group.

We look forward to starting the Discover More transition journey with all Year 6 pupils.
