Nuffield Placement

Nuffield Research Placements provide over 1,000 students each year with the opportunity to work alongside professional scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians. Students in the first year of a post-16 science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) course studying at a state-maintained school or college in the UK are eligible to apply. US Sutton Trust

The Sutton Trust US Programme gives state school students the chance to explore studying in the US. It introduces students from across the UK to the American higher education system. You will have the chance to experience a fully funded trip to the US to visit different colleges and to your ‘fit’. The deadline to apply is Sunday 19th January 2020.

The Social Mobility Fund

The Social Mobility Foundation (SMF) is a charity which aims to make a practical improvement in social mobility for young people from low-income backgrounds. They have groups for the major areas of the UK.  They provide support for 11 different professional sectors including science, maths and medicine. They offer chances to learn about jobs and how to be successful in your sector by talking and networking with professionals. You will have the chance to take part in a week long placement to develop skills such as communication and improve your confidence.
