GCSE Options help
At the end of year 8 learners at Pontypridd High School are asked to choose the qualifications they would like to study throughout years 9, 10 and 11. In light of the Welsh Government decision to close schools after Friday 20th of March 2020 we will need to manage as much of this process remotely as we can.
Under usual circumstances your child would access a programme of events including assemblies, registration periods, and a parent meeting with staff to discuss course requirements and their suitability to pursue the range of qualifications we offer. Regardless of the current circumstances, please be assured that we remain committed to providing the best we support we can to allow your child to make informed decisions.
The first step of the options process is for each learner to complete a ‘declaration of interest’ form. This allows us to determine the demand for each subject and form option columns that minimise clashes between subjects. In order to complete this form it is essential that each year 8 learner spends some time carefully researching courses they are interested in to determine which qualifications would offer them the best chance of success. In order to do this Miss Griffiths (Careers Leader) will be uploading a number of resources to the website as well as assigning specific tasks to complete through class charts. Please keep an eye on the website for updates to course information and further resources that may be added.
The declaration of interest form follows this letter together with full instructions of how to return your choices to us. If you have any further questions or queries please don’t hesitate to email us on firstname.lastname@example.org and we will help as much as we can.
