Year 4 and 5 Transition Meeting

Thanks to the pupils, parents and carers from Trerobart Primary for attending our transition meeting on Wednesday night (April 27th).

This was the first opportunity to meet and talk through our plans that will allow all of the children to achieve the success they deserve as they move from primary to secondary school.

The pupils greatly enjoyed the RAIS (Restorative Approaches In Schools) activities and working in our 'Clubhouse' facility. This provides the nurturing children often need when joining Year 7 and also the support they need to improve literacy and numeracy skills.

Parents and carers were taken on a tour of our Lower Block which is a unique provision in the Local Authority whereby Year 7 and 8 pupils have their own teaching and play areas within our School. In addition they were able to listen to staff talking about the ways in which we care and support for each pupil through our designated Wellbeing Team. They were also able to discuss the curriculum that we deliver and how a team of staff monitor and support the academic progress of each child.

Over the next few weeks, all Year 4/5 pupils and their parents and carers in will have the opportunity to visit us. The meetings are planned as follows:

Tuesday 3rd May – Coedylan PS and Trehopkyn PS

Wednesday 11th May – Cilfynydd PS, Cefn PS and Craig Yr Hesg PS

Wednesday 18th May – Maesycoed PS

In these meetings, we will inform you of the Year 4/5 English and Maths projects taking place this term and the dates on which Year 5 pupils will be visiting Pontypridd High School.

If you are unable to attend one of the meetings that has been arranged for your school it will not matter if you attend one of the alternative dates.

Please contact Miss. Nicki Pickens at pickensn@pontyhigh.co.uk if your school is not included above and you would like to attend one of the meetings.
