Happy Summer Holidays!

As the academic year draws to an end, we would like to wish everyone a happy summer holiday filled with sun and fun.

We began the school year in September 2020 in the hope that the impacts of COVID would disappear over-time. I think it is fair to say that that situation did not materialise as we may have thought and the last school year, much like 2019/20 has proved to be a very different experience. However, whether it be dealing with positive COVID cases, periods of ‘home learning’ or the return since April, we have managed all these circumstances by working together as best we can and should be proud of what we have achieved.

In the last few weeks we have awarded our provisional ‘Centre Determined Grades’ (CDGs) to all GCSE and A level students from Years 10 to 13. My thanks to everyone involved in this process, students, parents/carers and staff alike. I would like to wish all those students who will be leaving us from Years 11 and 13 every success as they move on from PHS. We look forward to presenting the final grades on results days in August (August 10th for A Level and August 12th for GCSE) and students will be able to come into school to collect results as we have always done in previous years.

At the end of this school year our thanks also to staff who are leaving us. To Carys Ashcroft, Lauri Cooper and Hannah Mealy who have made such a positive contribution to our ALN Team. Also, to Laura Dober, Deputy Headteacher as she takes up a post in Caerphilly. Mrs Dober has been very influential in different roles, including leading our teaching and learning provision across the school and through ‘home learning’. We wish them all the very best as they move on from Pontypridd High.
