New Traffic System at PHS

Over the past year Pontypridd High School’s Student Council has been working hard planning a new traffic management system that will ease the flow of traffic through the school grounds.

Over the past year Pontypridd High School’s Student Council has been working hard planning a new traffic management system that will ease the flow of traffic through the school grounds.

They initially raised concerns about the number of vehicles that come into the school and travel around our present system, sometimes not adhering to the speed limit, where there are many pupils and staff especially at peak times. Another concern was the build up of traffic at the school gates during the start of the school day.

Working in collaboration with RCT they finalised a plan last month and thanks to the speedy work of RCT Highways Department, the work was completed over the Easter Holidays.

There is now a two lane entry to the school with several drop-off points. Only authorised vehicles such as staff, deliveries and buses will be able to travel all the way into the school while visitors and parents bringing pupils to school will be directed, via a new turning point, to either the visitor’s car park or back out of the school.

We respectfully ask for your patience during the week ahead as everybody gets used to the new system.

Thank you.
