Beat The Street

Beat The Street is a new initiative in RCT to encourage people to become more active.

The idea is to get more people walking, running or cycling throughout the borough on walk trails and routes. Beat the Street is a competition where prizes can be won as a person becomes active and collects points. Along specified routes, ‘beat boxes’ have been placed on lamp-posts. Maps showing the locations of the beat boxes can be collected from Tesco stores and can also be downloaded from the website onto iPhones and Android phones at rct.beatthestreet.me.

Year 9 took up the challenge this week and used their PE lesson as an opportunity to cycle between boxes on the Taff Trail. This is a fantastic opportunity and an excellent way to get our communities more active. I hope you will encourage more of our young people to participate.
