A Level Results 2018

Congratulations to all pupils at PHS who achieved success at their 'A' level results today!

I would like to congratulate each of our students who have achieved success with their ‘A’ level results. I am delighted that we have seen a 2% increase in the passes at A* and A grade and a 10% increase in those at A* to C. Our Welsh Baccalaureate results are exceptional, with 100% passing the Skills Challenge Certificate at grades A* to C. In addition, of the students who followed vocational Level 3 courses, 86% achieved Distinction *or Distinction passes.

Particular mention must be given to Lucy Thomas A*AAA, James Hughes A*A*BB, Sophie Penikett, Corey Evans and Zoe Evans who all passed with AAAB. Similarly impressive results were achieved by Sophie Bennett AAA, Ciara Richards with A*ABC, Sian Smith AABC,  Courtney Loveridge AAC, Frances Hoey AABB, Jessica Howells AABB, Bethany Howells AABC and Atalya Edwards AACC.

Congratulations also to Jacob Cook AABD, Taylor Ferguson ABBBD, Elis Pryse ABBC, Alex Sparks ABB, Rachel Lane BBCC, and Mia Lloyd BBBD who all performed to a very high standard.

In terms of our Sixth Form provision these results are very encouraging particularly as students are being challenged to meet higher standards. They have responded to this in the best way possible by achieving a greater number of the highest grades. Most pleasing is that these positive outcomes are allowing all students who successfully completed courses to access a course and destination of their choice.

As Headteacher I am very much aware that for many of us this success is the result of working in partnership with each family over a number of years. As always the commitment from all students, staff and the support of each family is greatly appreciated. Mr Bill Davies, Chair of Governors expressed his delight at what has been achieved. He congratulates all of the students on their results in addition to thanking staff for their continued hard work and support which ensures Pontypridd High School continues to provide a very successful Sixth Form provision.

We thank those students who are now leaving us for their contribution to our School and wish them well as they move on to new challenges beyond Pontypridd High.
