Class of 2015
Thursday 14th of May was a time of mixed emotions at Pontypridd High School. Throughout a celebration assembly, Year 11 pupils reflected on the last 5 years they have spent at their school. They were treated to a film of pictures of themselves tracking their journey together from 2010 to the present day. It included memories of lessons, trips, achievements and events throughout this Year. Tears were shed and laughter was aplenty throughout. The staff involved shared fond and often funny stories of their memories of the Class of 2015.
Over 50% of our Year 11 pupils have achieved the prestigious Certificate of Achievement Award. To achieve this, they had to achieve over 95% attendance and also meet all the other criteria of Punctuality, Meeting Deadlines, Presentation and Work Experience.
There was a unanimous decision made by staff when the school’s overall achievement champion was voted for. Jack Thorpe was the overall winner and he received a plaque in recognition of the accomplishments he has displayed at Pontypridd High School. He also received a gift and card from the school to acknowledge his success. This was presented to him by Nicola Brittain from RCT.
All the form tutors spoke so fondly of their registration groups and then they were awarded their Record of Achievement folders by Head Teacher, Mr Cripps. This folder is something they will use for many years to come. It contains all their certificates, a CV, Personal Statement and evidence of achievements they have accrued. It is such a valuable possession.
The pupils and staff enjoyed a group sing-song that was led by Mr Capel, who sang and played the drums. He was ably accompanied by Ffion Edmunds and Matthew Bevan on guitar.
The children were all reminded to take advantage of every positive opportunity they were given and to work hard to ensure a successful future for each and every one of them. Despite this being the final opportunity for this cohort of pupils to be together, the pupils will now remain in school and continue to work hard until they have completed their last GCSE exam.
The staff at Pontypridd high School are so proud of Year 11 and all they have achieved so far. Everyone looks forward to some superb GCSE results on August 20th, 2015 and continuing to share all of our pupils’ achievements.
Farewell ………. for now Class of 2015!
