Fantastic GCSE Results at PHS

Congratulations to all pupils on your fantastic GCSE results today!

At the beginning of Year 10 in 2015 we set our pupils the challenge of achieving the very best results and to their credit they have responded very well indeed. As staff we are all delighted that so many have achieved the high standards expected of them. All pupils have achieved qualifications and 38% achieved at least 1 A* / A grade with 19 achieving 5 or more A* and A grades. Three pupils gained at least 10 A* and A grades each which is a fantastic achievement. New GCSE examinations for pupils in English and maths have been passed successfully though such is the difference in expectation, comparisons with previous years would not be fair or accurate. However, it is very encouraging to see that nearly 50% of the Year 10 pupils who sat English in the summer have achieved a pass at A* to C and this will be a great foundation for further success when they return to complete Year 11 in September. For so many pupils to achieve such fantastic results is a very positive reflection on the commitment of pupils and the excellent teaching they are receiving from staff. The support of each family is essential and as always it is very much appreciated.

We have high expectations for our pupils and it is to their credit that they have responded so positively to the challenge we set for them. Our congratulations to Gracie Wheeler with 10 A* grades along with Tessa Pounder and Lia Ferguson who both achieved 10 or more A* and A grades each. In addition, Sophie Preece, Caitlyn Baker, Jessica Barnes, Cael Griffiths, Aleks Diamond-Jones, Alex John, Morgan Jones, Molly Lewis, India Lloyd-Evans, Roisin Moses, Dylan Richards, Alice Newton, Katie Newton, Lydia Pearce, Daniel Tollan, Seren Thompson and Sophie Tarr who all achieved a significant number of excellent grades, including many A* and A’s. We should also mention Kieron Staple, Ceinwen Evans, Aziz Akhtar, Morgan Llewellyn, Madeleine Brassinne-Bowe, Tayla Pullman and Emily Williams amongst many others who also achieved great results. Be very proud of yourselves.

Mr Bill Davies, Chair of the Governing Body would like to thank all pupils and staff for their effort and hard work and congratulate everyone on gaining these GCSE qualifications.

These results prove what talented pupils we have at Pontypridd High and we very much look forward to welcoming such well qualified and committed pupils back to our Sixth Form on September 5th.
