Red Nose Day

In the run-up to Red Nose Day on Friday 13th March, a number of activities were held at Pontypridd High School to raise money for Comic Relief.

We started the week off by making our faces funny for money in our photo booth and our ‘Guess the Baby Competition’, involving many members of staff’s photos as children or babies. Pupils and staff spent the week trying to find out who was who. Sophie Bennett (Y10) and Mandy Instrell had the most answers correct and won a prize each. The 6th form got active as they took on staff in a volleyball match in the Sports Hall, cheered on by lots of spectators.

On Red Nose Day itself, a bake sale was held in the Boost Bar, offering lots of delicious cakes and biscuits. The stocks had been set up outside and pupils had great fun throwing wet sponges at their teachers. Lunchtime saw a special edition of the television programme ‘The Chase’, featuring a special appearance from our very own the Beast-lookalike Mr Watson.

After a week of fundraising, we raised £405 for a very worthy cause. Thank you to all who donated and especially the members of the Sixth Form who helped with all the activities.
