Albion Disaster 1894

On 23rd June 1894, in the mining village of Cilfynydd, a terrible explosion occurred beneath the surface of Albion Colliery. Hundreds of workers, of all ages, were to lose their lives in what was to become the second worst mining disaster in Welsh history.

June 23rd 2019 marks the 125th anniversary of this tragic event.
