Welcome

Welcome to our school. Croeso i’n h’ysgol ni.

Pontypridd High School is a secondary school which hosts approximately 760 pupils, our school vision promotes our believe of ‘Learning and Achieving together’. As a school we work tirelessly to ensure every child is given every opportunity to meet their potential, ensuring an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Our school is a successful, caring and welcoming environment, where safeguarding and pupil well-being is paramount.  Our school rules are centred around three key words ‘Respect, Responsible and Ready’ and we use positive strategies to encourage and promote positive behaviour across the school community. As a school, we have high expectations of all pupils to ensure they meet their potential and go on to a lifetime of learning beyond Pontypridd High School.

As a school we have a strong tradition of excellent academic standards, providing a wide range of learning provisions to ensure all pupils can succeed. Our curriculum is broad and balanced,  and constantly evaluated to ensure it meets the demands of the fast paced, ever changing world we live in. We strive to remove any barrier to learning, ensuring every child accesses every opportunity. As a school place high importance on literacy, numeracy and digital competency, using these as our building blocks for curriculum design.

Alongside our varied curriculum, we provide a rich extra-curricular timetable ranging from but not limited to, sporting fixtures and provisions, school productions and youth engagement activities. We encourage and support all learners to participate in activities outside of the classroom to enrich their learning experiences  and to develop as healthy confident individuals, ready to embark on life outside of school and make a valuable contribution to society.

At Pontypridd High School we believe we are more than a school but rather a learning organisation and working in collaboration with external agencies, parents/carers, neighbouring schools and colleges is crucial to our progression. I am extremely proud of our excellent cluster links with our partner primary schools and what we have achieved together, I look forward to this work continuing.

This is a very different year for us as it is our final year as Pontypridd High School. On 31st August 2024, Pontypridd High School will close but on the 1st September 2024, Ysgol Bro Taf will open. An exciting new chapter for Education and the community in which Ysgol Bro Taf will serve.

Please can I take this opportunity to thank your for your interest and support in our school, Pontypridd High School.

Diolch yn fawr,

Mrs Kayleigh Oliver
