70 students from Year 12 at Pontypridd High School took part in an Enterprise project – which contributed to their Welsh Baccalaureate Qualification creating their own businesses from scratch.

They set up six stalls on Pontypridd Market from 9am to 2.30pm on Wednesday to sell each team’s products, which included sweets, cakes, confectionary, fruit drinks, smoothies and bric a brac.

A lot of work was put in beforehand negotiating prices for stock with local retailers and preparing their goods for sale.

Profits made were split between the teams, who gave contributions to a variety of local charities.

Nick Johnson, head of business and enterprise at Pontypridd High School, said: “The students have been great, and really developed their entrepreneurial skills.

“They have been out and about negotiating and selling, and really getting involved in the market atmosphere.”
