The English Department at PHS are excited to announce that on 3rd June they will be beginning their new transition project with the primary schools.
The project involves each primary school being linked with a teacher from the PHS English Department. Each week, this teacher will then have a designated morning or afternoon at the primary school when they can work closely with the Year 6 teacher in delivering lessons, developing pupil skills and assessing work.
The project will allow a relationship to build between the primary pupils and a PHS English teacher before the pupils make the move to secondary school. It will also serve to strengthen communication and develop consistency across our cluster of schools.
Mrs Williams will be linked to Coedylan Primary. Miss Evans will be linked to Maes-Y-Coed and Trehopyn Primary. Mrs Van-Baaren will be linked to Trerobert and Cefn Primary. Miss Stickler will be linked to Cilfynydd and Craig-yr-Hesg Primary. They are all very much looking forward to starting the project and getting to know the schools and their pupils.
As well as operating throughout the coming summer term, the project will run for the whole of the next academic year.

From September 2012 we will assess your child and report to you in a slightly different way. Assessment takes place almost every single lesson! However as a parent you are most interested in our formal assessments of your child and the progress they are making.
Schools are required by law to provide parents with a report and an opportunity to discuss with parents their child’s progress once a year. Below you will see our assessment and reporting schedule.
You will get a three reports of your child’s progress, one each term plus the opportunity to meet your child’s teachers in the scheduled parents evening. In the summer, years 11, 12 , & 13 will be externally examined.
