001All pupils who achieved over 300 Merits during the academic year 2011/2012 received their final “Reward” in December when they attended one of the two Trips to the Rhondda Bowl in Tonyrefail. 47 pupils in Year 8 and 41 pupils in Year 9 qualified for the trip on 13th December while 64 pupils in Year 10 qualified for the trip on 17th December.  The “Reward” consisted of two free games of 10 pin bowling and free transport – and a day off School lessons!!
The first game was the “Tournament Game” which saw the highest scoring boy, girl and team win vouchers for free games at the Rhondda Bowl. Then the lights dipped and the music and disco lights started for the second “Fun Game”. Pupils were also able to take advantage of the special discounted meals offered by the Rhondda Bowl kitchen.
All pupils on both trips were a credit to Pontypridd High School and themselves and hopefully they enjoyed their “Reward” for achieving so many Merits last year. I look forward to even more pupils attending the Rewards Trip next year!!

The Trips followed the Prize Draws which took place in October. All pupils who gained over 200 Merits were entered in a draw for ten £20 vouchers for a shop chosen by each winner. The winners of these vouchers were Gemma Bishop, Jake Matthews and Kirsty Woodmass of Year 8, Matthew Bevan, Iona Davies, Ffion Edmunds and Maddy Goodson of Year 9 and Chelsea Gibson, Chelsea Moore and Cristyn Woodman of Year 10.
The major draw was for pupils who gained over 300 Merits and the prize was one £50 voucher for a shop of the winner’s choice. The winner of this prize was Bethany Howells of Year 8.
Congratulations to all prize winners and pupils who went on the trips!!!
