katiegSince taken up her new appointment Katie Gupwell has been busy campaigning in Pontypridd high school with other pupils and teachers.

About Katie

The Netherlands

The main event in February was when us 6 Climate Change Champions travelled to the Netherlands for a 4-day expedition, we travelled by train to reduce our carbon footprint. The trip was very varied, and included a treasure hunt, a boat trip to a wind farm and attending a reception at the Hague. The trip was very interesting and we learnt lots, I found that:

  • Everyone in the Netherlands owns at least 1 bicycle;
  • In the Netherlands 13% of energy sources are renewable;
  • In the Netherlands recycling bins are more easily available compared to in the UK.
