Plea for Help for Local Children
Thursday, 10 December 2009 15:54
SilezinMAt this time of year we are all looking forward to our Christmas presents. However, some children and families will not be so lucky. Some will suffer from poverty, some from violence, some from drug addiction but it will never be the fault of the child. This is not just something that happens in other countries, it happens in Pontypridd as well. Barnardo's give thousands of families and children in distress, packs of things that make Christmas just a little more bearable for them. We would like to help them to help local families. Please, if you could send in something that a family could use in the bathroom or the kitchen, however small, it could make a difference. We would like toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, shower gel, shampoo, soap, comb/brush, wash bags or towels. For the kitchen we would like dried foods, coffee, sugar, crisps, chocolate, biscuits, bags of sweets, mugs, spoon, fork, bottle of squash etc. We would also welcome toys. Can you imagine a child without a toy at Christmas because they had to move very quickly to avoid a violent parent? If everyone brings in just one thing we will make a huge difference! Please help.

santaPontypridd High School was glowing with festivity on Thursday Evening when it held its annual Christmas Fair.
Crowds of parents, children and members of the community gathered at the school to join in the festive fun. There were many craft stalls, cake stalls, tombola, refreshments, rodeo reindeer, sumo wrestling, candy stalls, fairground rides and a very special visit from Santa himself along with one of his helpers!

learning_supportOn Wednesday, November 18th 3 pupils from the Learning Support Department, Daniel Hopkins in Year 7, Bradleigh Way in Year 8 and Stacey Berrett in Year 10 were invited to attend a meeting with Mrs Jennie Owens from the Learning Support Service. The purpose of the meeting was for these pupils to talk about their current provision at school.
Unfortunately, Bradleigh was unable to attend as he had an E3+ Activity involving Theatrical Make Up which he wanted to attend.
Daniel and Stacey however did attend and both pupils said they were happy with their provision. Although Daniel did say he
