100 6691Our highly motivated level 2 Construction students were given a tour around a bespoke development of a new high rise apartment block in Swansea Bay. Fortunately one of the students, Daniel Pickering's dad is a senior contracts manager for this development and leads the way for Persimmon Homes/Charles Church to deliver this high spec project.
Head of Construction, Steve Jones commented that Ian and his staff give up so much valuable time to make this visit so rewarding for our future project managers.
Ian Pickering, Contracts Manager said "The students were a pleasure to escort around this development." He invited  the students to return at regular stages of the development to enable them to gain the understanding and knowledge of the process involved and the job opportunities that come together for this exciting first class project.

quizFive Year 8 pupils went to Llantwit Fardre Rugby Club on November 16th to take part in the All Wales Crime Prevention Quiz ran by the South Wales and Fire Service. The team members were Elis Pryse, John Paul Jones, Corey Evans, Angharad Davies and Atalya Edwards.  The pupils studied different aspects of the law in relation to Drug Awareness, Personal Safety, Fire Risks, Road Awareness, Health and Internet Safety. The pupils worked extremely hard prior to the competition to learn as many facts as possible to be able to answer all of the questions correctly in the quiz. The pupils’ hard work definitely paid off, as they came second in the Rhonda Cynon Taff Region. The five pupils were presented the Runners Up certificate and they have proudly placed them in their Progress Files. Mrs Finney commented “All the pupils enjoyed their day and I was very proud of their achievement.”

From September 2012 we will assess your child and report to you in a slightly different way. Assessment takes place almost every single lesson! However as a parent you are most interested in our formal assessments of your child and the progress they are making.

Schools are required by law to provide parents with a report and an opportunity to discuss with parents their child’s progress once a year. Below you will see our assessment and reporting schedule.

You will get a three reports of your child’s progress, one each term plus the opportunity to meet your child’s teachers in the scheduled parents evening. In the summer, years 11, 12 , & 13 will be externally examined.
