ufaWe are looking to recruit some more members to our team of young research & evaluators. This is an important role within the school and whoever joins the team must be reliable and committed to the project.

Training will be given and students will be expected to give up some of their time during breaks to complete their findings from research within the school. They will then be expected to present their findings as a team to senior management and Governors. It is an excellent opportunity to develop key skills. If you would like to come on board please see Mrs Marvelly, Debbie Davies or a member of the existing team:

Brandon Jeffs
Dylan Griffiths
Sian Smith
Callum Davies
Daniel Wiltshire

Geography Field Trip

geogOn 13th January our year 12 geographers braved the wind, rain and cold temperatures to attend a two day field trip to Margam Discovery Centre. The keen geographers arrived early Monday morning; they were given a quick tour of the accommodation and an introductory lesson about 'Urban Rebranding.' We then set out to Swansea city centre where they carried out an environmental survey and asked the general public questions about the regeneration of the city. They returned to the centre to analyse their results until late that evening, using GIS. The following day was another early start for a hearty breakfast followed by an informative lesson about changes which occur downstream in the River Ogmore. We then set out to the source of the river in Nantymoel, measuring width, depth, velocity and other variables and continued to do this along the course of the river, stopping in Blackmill and finally ending up at the river mouth in Ogmore by Sea. The enthusiasm of the pupils made the trip memorable and resulted in very valuable experiences and data collection. Well done year 12!
