A Level Results 2017

Congratulations to our pupils on their superb results!

I would like to congratulate each of our students who have achieved success with their ‘A’ level results. I am delighted that we have seen the number of passes at A* and A maintained and an overall 6% increase in those at A* to C grade. In addition, the number of passes at A* to E grades is 97% and our Welsh Baccalaureate results are exceptional, with 100% passing the Advanced Level Challenge Certificate and 98% of those passing at grades A* to C.

Particular mention must be given to Sarah Lethbridge who gained A*AAA, Simon Humphries A*AAB and Maddy Goodson AAAB. Similarly impressive results were achieved by Tamira Jones with A*ABB, Mali Griffiths ABBC, Megan Davies A*ABD, Kiera Black A*BCC, Olivia Davies A*BCC, Amy Herman A*BCD, Anna Smith ABBB and Katie Elston ABCC. Congratulations also to Angel Lock BBBC, Dylan Wert BBBD, Jamie Pickering BBCC, Emily Davies BCCC and Morgan Attley ABC who all performed to a very high standard. Well done to Morgyn Thompson who achieved A*BC with the A* at Distinction level in BTEC Sport.

In terms of our Sixth Form provision, these results are very encouraging, particularly as students are being challenged to achieve the highest grades. Most pleasing is that all students who successfully completed courses are now able to access a course and destination of their choice.

As Headteacher I am very much aware that for many of us this success is the result of working in partnership with each family for seven years or more. As always the commitment from all students, staff and the support of each family is greatly appreciated. Mr Bill Davies, Chair of Governors expressed his delight at what has been achieved and congratulates all of the students on their results in addition to thanking staff for their continued hard work and the level of support that ensures Pontypridd High School continues to provide a very successful Sixth Form provision.

We thank those students who are now leaving us for their contribution to our School and wish them well as they move on to new challenges beyond Pontypridd High.
