Showcase: Year 8 Art Work

Year 8 have been very busy this term studying the work of the American artist Chuck Close. They learnt that he paints incredibly detailed portraits in black and white and this style of work is called hyper realism. As part of this project they used the same techniques as the artist and enlarged an image of themselves. They spent time studying how tone can add detail into their work and created very life like images.

The final portraits were completed using pencil and the ranges of tone they used in their work shows how well they understood the task.

The pupils themselves are pleased with the work they produced. After initial misgivings about the difficulty of the task,  their hard work and determination certainly paid off. The work is excellent. The quality of drawing, application of tone and scale certainly prove we have some very talented artists at Pontypridd High School. Well done Year 8.
